Scrapbooks, 1905-1924.

Consists of scrapbooks assembled and annotated by Jane Norton Morgan. The volumes contain family photographs, letters, post cards, invitations, calling cards, clippings, playbills and programs, menus, sketches and paintings, and notes describing her activities, travels, and memories. Together these materials record the family life of the Morgans including J. Pierpont Morgan, Frances Tracy Morgan, J.P. Morgan, Jr., Junius Spencer Morgan, Jr., Jane Morgan Nichols, Frances Morgan Pennoyer, and Henry Sturgis Morgan. Topics documented in the collection include: family homes such as Camp Uncas, Cragston, Gannochy, Matinicock Point, Wall Hall; family life such as her children's youth, their birthdays, their school activities, their graduations, their marriages, and the family's pet Pekinese dogs; current events such as royal coronations, the Russian Revolution, the 1907 San Francisco earthquake, the Pujo Committee hearings, the death of her father-in-law, J. Pierpont Morgan, World War I, and the bombing of the J.P. Morgan & Co. offices at 23 Wall Street in 1920. The scrapbooks also record where Jane Norton Morgan and her family traveled during these years with photographs of Corsair and a copy of its itinerary for Jan.-Mar. 1921.
